Free For All Friday No 903 by Laurie

Is it just me, or is life admin getting more and more complicated? Why is everything a subscription now? How am I supposed to keep track of them all? What about renewals? And don't even get me started on home and car maintenance and chores.

How do you manage all the details of life admin? In your Filofax? In apps? Some combination thereof?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to ask and/ or discuss anything Filofax related!

  1. i have an online repository of passwords, subscription info etc. I would really prefer to keep this in my Filofax (an approach which is preferred by many Silicone Valley-based cyber-security people, iI gather!), but the volume of stuff and maintenance seem to me to be too onerous. Maybe this is something I'll get round to. Of course if I do I'll need a backup copy as well..........

  2. Likewise I hate multiple subscriptions on so many things these days. It's scary when you put them all in to a spreadsheet and add up how much you are spending per month/year.

I complained to one company that was going to introduce a subscription for the app I use for reminding me to take my daily medication. My complaint hit a nerve I think because they gave me complementary access to their premium tier free for life! I suspect they think my days are numbered!!

I use Apple Reminders and Apple Calendar to keep up to date on renewal dates, but copied in to my Filofax as well of course.

For passwords I use the built in Apple Passwords App, this keeps them securely and available across all my Apple devices, it's simple and easy to use, generates secure passwords when required on new accounts, provides the 2FA codes that change every 30 seconds etc.

I stopped storing passwords in my Filofax a few years ago with in excess of 400 to maintain it was a bit of a nightmare!
