Free For All Friday - No. 838 by Anita

When I bought my first Filofax back in 2009, I had recently read David Allen's Getting Things Done book, and decided that it would be perfect to keep my GTD set up in. I'm very much a creature of habit, so this is the main set up that I've used for many years, but after some time, I decided to give myself a more simplified set up as well.

Whilst I still love Getting Things Done and agree that it does work, I think that I've kinda been moving away from it slowly over the years. It occurred to me that at its most basic level, all I really in my Filofax consists of two things - somewhere to keep lists and notes together, so that I look at it on a regular basis. (I use Google calendar, so don't normally use diary inserts)

I bought the Bullet Journal Method book years ago, but admit that I've never actually finished it. I did consider at one point to try out a bullet journal set up , but haven't done so as my simplified one has been working so well for me.

Do you use a particular system in your Filofax, e.g. GTD or bullet journal, or is your set up instead based on what you just find works for you?

And as always on Fridays, please feel free to discuss anything organiser related. I hope that you have a great weekend.

  1. I find that my set ups change as my life might take a different route. I have had dailies or weeklies that work along side a month on 2 page overview. At the moment I have a weekly view with morning, afternoon and evening blocks. This seems to be working...at the moment.

  2. I've been GTD for around 15 years and it works for me, although I admit it's not for everyone. Formats vary but I've been filofax based since around 1981 and I've never found a better solution. As you say, lists, notes and diary are basically all I need (I keep my diary in my Filofax too) and my Filofax does it all very well.

I've experimented with other methods over the years but never found anything better and have always come back
