Tuesdays are your chance to ask any Filofax related questions you might have.
So fire away and we will collectively try to answer your questions or offer opinions.
Those of you in or near Dallas Texas, there are still a few places available for the forthcoming meet up. See the earlier post for details.
I have an old FF with a very slack snap - so slack to wont close. Anyone know how to fix this so I can at least snap it closed??
ReplyDeleteThe rings or the strap closure ?? i.e. the press stud?
ReplyDeleteI have a malden with ink marks and the bottom 3 rings have gaps. I have read previous posts on the ring gaps and am wondering if there are any new ideas to fix the gaps. I will keep searching about the ink spots but would appreciate ideas for ink removal as well.
ReplyDeletePlease email me at philofaxy at gmail dot com I might be able to help you with the ring gaps

RE: the ink stains - I've used antibacterial hand gel in the past to get ink stains off plastic-coated binders, but I've not tried it on leather so please don't take my word for it! I've also heard that applying Chapstick to the mark and leaving it for a few days should work too, but I've not had the opportunity to try this myself.
DeleteSorry - the press stud.
ReplyDeleteFind a local shore repair place, they can generally fit a new press stud to the strap fairly easily/quickly
DeleteNot sure you addressed this or not, but I saw your recent image post of the 'sneak peak' new Filofax catalog cover. When will the full catalog be released?
ReplyDeleteThat was an old catalogue just cut up as if it had gone through a shredder!!
DeleteThe new catalogue will be out sometime in March/April I think... judging by last years one.
Hopefully they'll have some products available on the US website sometime. The selection has been pathetic for the last year.
DeleteHas Filofax ever made or currently have a mini or a pocket with a zip around? I also wonder why I don't see a credit card holder for a mini so that it can be used as extra slots if you want to use it for a wallet.
ReplyDeleteYes they do make a Malden Pocket Zip
DeleteI think they did make a Mini Finsbury Zip at one time but it might have been Pocket size, sorry can't remember without checking
A lot of people have made their own CC holders for Mini, but yes why they don't make them I don't know.
There was definitely a mini Finsbury zip. And it does seem daft of filofax to not offer a credit card carrying insert for mini, as many people are interested in using the mini as a wallet.
DeleteAs Steve said, you can use business card holders cut and punched for extra card pockets in a Mini, which I have tried and now wrecked (poor quality sleeve), or you can buy side opening envelopes in Mini size. I've seen Filofax branded ones and 'London Organiser Company' ones (compatible with FF) on ebay for about £1.50 each. I've ordered the latter and am waiting on them as we speak!
DeleteThank you for the responses. :)
DeleteThey also do a Pocket Pennybridge zip, which doubles up as a purse too :)
DeleteJust received a mini Cross which I am going to use as a pocket wallet and notebook. Very pleased! Not happy that when I bent the cover a bit to try to loosen it up the damn coating on the leather crazed! Oh well, I knew to expect it with this model.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was an unpleasant surprise for me with a gorgeous Blue Cross Personal I got off eBay last week. Google made it clear this is a known problem. If you work up the crazing enough into a bubble, you can peel the excess coating right off in chunks - looks kind of like thin skin. Not sure what to do about the inside of my blue Cross though - it's really close to the rings and I can't get a good chunk going :(

ReplyDeleteHi!! Is there an A5 style not to heavy??
ReplyDeleteExists a FF fans in Puerto Rico??
ReplyDeleteSo I've got a Deskfax on its way to me from the UK. It appears my fancy new Canon laser printer will print B5 double-sided. Any tips on shrinking the A4 Philofaxy PDFs? 84% seems pretty close, but the right side page is a little too close to the holes. The left side lines up perfect.
