Some of the very oldest Filofaxes used a mechanism where the top & bottom three rings operated independently. Does anyone have a feel for roughly when that type of rings was phased out?
ReplyDelete(If asked to guess a decade, I would probably go for the 1940s.)
Great question, I have one like that from the 1920's!
DeleteRe-reading your “true vintage” post from 20th March 2019, my best guess decade has now switched to the 1930s because that binder had “modern” rings along with a pre-wartime Filofax office address leaf…
DeleteNow I’m really confused because I just tried the rings in a binder that I believe dates from 1955 and found they work independently!
DeleteIs there a list somewhere of which Filofaxes were manufactured with Krause rings in please?
ReplyDeleteAnother great question, not that I'm aware of, but we could create one.
