I am not sure if this is where I post my Free For All Tuesday question as it has been a long, long time since I last visited & I can't remember how things are set up ....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I would like to ask the community if anyone could point me in the direction of a supplier who stocks the various components for making your own DIY planner or notebook & in particular the ring mechanisms that hold your pages together.
There are certainly more retail outlets (eg Etsy) than there used to be but some prices seem a bit steep & the quality a bit unknown. I would love to find a specialist stockist that offers product choice & a reasonably wide range of the various esoteric bits of hardware that you can use (the words Aladdin's Cave spring to mind :).
I am based in the UK but would happily use anyone who could ship to me.

If you buy rings from Van der Spek, be sure to request the backing plate as well as the ring mech. Normally they don't include the backing plate. If you are making your own then you will need the backing plate as well.
DeleteBe aware that the shipping cost will be a major issue with ring mechs due to their size etc.
You’re in the right place Paul but I’m afraid I don’t have that much of an answer.
ReplyDeleteVan der Spek (as linked on these pages) would be a reliable source for ring mechanisms at least.
I'd also recommend Van der Spek. They have excellent customer service, so I'd suggest asking them about any components that you need, as they might be able to help.
