Free for All Friday No. 804

I always thought I was capable of planning ahead, and if something comes up that changes my plans, well, that's life!

But now I'm looking at it differently. Maybe if I planned better, I can be ready for those "somethings" that always come up! If my plans don't work out one week, then I should try a different plan next week and learn from my mistakes!

After all, what good is an organizer if it doesn't improve your ability to organize.

As always on Friday, feel free to discuss anything related to ring-bound organizers!

  1. How do you record scheduled events or activities in your planner? Diary, what format? Bullet journal, basic, standard method, artistic? Other system? Why did you choose your system? What little tricks do you have that you think might help others?

Basically I'm curious what out of the range of possibilities the philofaxy community uses.
For the dated planning side that is. Afterall the filofax is at its heart "just" a nice folder, it's what we put in it that defines it the most I think.

    1. The only purchased FF insert I buy is the annual fold out one, the rest I draw up myself - a months worth of week on two pages, a 7 day rolling to do list (as recommended by Neil Bristow), two months of a month on a page then the rest of the year on two sides of an insert. This way you don't have to carry too many inserts

  2. I have a few of those pens with erasable ink for such instances :)

    1. Everything in my diary is in pencil. I use standard issue Staedtler HB pencils with an eraser tip. I've learned that my diary changes too much and too often to use pen. I too have a set of coloured Frixion pens but I have yet to experiment with them, so for now at least it's pencil for me.

Currently A5 Wo2P 5 line TM from the Philofaxy website, printed on 120gm s.ooth high white paper I bought via Amazon (I care a lot about paper quality).

Muji black eraser in my bag in case I have some really heavy-duty changes to make, and a brass pencil sharpener from Mark+fold.

  4. For me it's Important to include at least some time each day for unforeseen 'reactive' work, and a block of time for answering emails, replying to calls, etc. That way the time I've allocated to planned work doesn't get eroded.
