Filofax Original Metalics

The Filofax Original Metalics have arrived! Available in A5 and Personal in Gold and Silver.

Now available on the Filofax UK on-line store and other UK stores.

Nice to see a lighter colour leather on the inside. I've not handled either of these myself yet.

  1. Very excited to see the FF in Gold and Silver!
I want to take the plunge as I don't want these beauties to go the way of the Aqua Malden and become extinct! What to do, What to do ?

  5. Bling Filofaxes? Do me a favour.......

Maybe it' time Filofax invested a bit more time in their long suffering core users who want an organisational tool. All this while the Time Management range is reduced to below the level where it can actually function.

    Execrable.

  6. They don't really do much for me, I have to be honest, although I am sure they are very "this season daaaahling!".

    1. If you want one I'd buy one by the end of August. They'll be very *last* season by the end of November. Yet more proof that Filofax are now only interested in the Hello Kitty brigade and fashion victims. For me, this is the end of my brand loyalty. Why should I be loyal to a company that no longer cares if I'm a customer or not?

  7. Weeell, not really my taste, too. I agree with David, too much "bling"….. But in the 1999 catalog shown in Steve´s post this morning the pictures of the Cosmic organiser seem a bit similar, with metallic effects in bronze and pewter. So not a really *new* idea…...

  8. As you know Steve I'm a huge fan of FFs but these remind me of Christmas and I'm not yet ready for it :-) This model FF looks on track to be made in every colour possible that Pantone spectrum has to offer; basic style and the Personal size is already sold out!! I'd prefer a black or dark green version of the FF Temperley Violet in personal please.........Heaven!!

  9. Filofax should trying to catch up with the bespoke binder manufacturerss rather than follow a fashion trend that will not last.

Filofax is losing more ground with this release and has made a huge mistake with these UGLY
    binders.

    This is my opinion.

  10. No harm in tapping into the creative and competent army of Etsy entrepreneurs and quite entreprenerial Pinterest, FB and other social media-savvy planners; in fact I think it's quite brilliant.

  11. Oops sorry about that typo, rather difficult to use this format on my mobile. It's entrepreneurial

  12. In some photos the gold looked more coppery and I liked that. I hope I can see them IRL someday.

  13. I concur with David. Filofax ditched the Time Management option presumably because their clientele are no longer serious about planning. Credit to companies like Day Timer and FC for investing in true time management methodology. FC get a rough ride for not developing their binder range, but perhaps this Filofax faux pas shows that FC have their focus in absolutely the right place.

    1. FC brought out the gold and silver metallic binders last year and have dropped several of their planer page designs this year.

  14. Everyone has really good points about the bigger picture I'm sure, but at the risk of being unpopular, I really like the gold. I'm wondering if it'll scratch though

  15. I know it is a matter of personal taste, but I'm baffled by these metallics. They look like the result of a class of primary school children who have been let loose on the teacher's Filofax during a creative session. I've read several comments from owners of "the Original" model regarding the colour wearing away. All I can think is that metallic silver and gold will wear even quicker. And I suspect the colour will crack at the areas where wrinkles usually develop from heavy use. Not my taste at all, I'm afraid. I agree with Mac, it is a pity that the focus in the last few years has been towards "fashion binders". For me, my Filofax is a tool. It would be more effective if it had a better choice of functional inserts, but regardless, I can still use it with only plain and lined paper if necessary. Sadly, Filofax seem to be falling between two stools, and ending up with the worst of both worlds. Van der Spek and Gillio make superb quality products and allow customisation of the binder. Dodpad provides offerings in a range of sizes, and now will even personally punch their inserts for Deskfax users. Franklin Covey, Day Timer and others still have some robust inserts, especially diaries. Filofax seems to have given up those segments, in exchange for mass-produced, fashion-focused binders. It seems an odd decision to me, as the fashion sector is so much more fickle than most. Glad I'm not on the sales force in Filofax Towers these days. I can't imagine pushing these binders on suppliers!

  16. I can kind of understand the appeal of these colours, but like Paul B says I just cannot see them wearing very well. I've realised that I want something with good quality leather that is going to last many years & still look good, so fashion really doesn't come into it for me. I hope that they do well for Filofax & it will be interesting to see how popular they are with the Filofax community.

  17. It's particularly unfortunate that the heritage supposedly embodied in Filofax's "The Originall" line is being coupled to these monstrosities.

  18. I'm curious as to why they used black elastic rather than the beige coloured elastic that they used in the 'Patent Nude' model. I think it would have been a better match.

But what ever... they are selling fast!

  19. I'm not sure I like these. I may change my mind if I saw them in person, but the colours really don't grab me. Not something I'll be buying!
