Free For All Friday No 533 by Laurie

This month I've been doing a lot of planner experimentation. A few weeks ago I noticed some of my pages were becoming less and less effective for me, to the point where I had stopped writing things down! Danger! A Planner Fail was imminent.

So this month I've been trying out some different pages. I'm hoping I will settle on something soon. It is a relief to know that no matter how much I switch around my pages, the rest of my pages (that continue to work fine for me) remain intact and all of my pages for the whole year will still be able to be archived together.

I can't believe we are already into the second month of the year! Are you settling into the new year? Have any changes happened for you recently?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to ask and/ or discuss anything ring-binder organizer related!

  1. I have decided to use weekly pages on one page, the left, of my A5 with work and home tasks facing on the right hand page.I love seeing my week laid out.I then insert a daily page on top of the weekly tasks which I update each day and dispose of the old one each night, refering of course to the weekly tasks to copy the next to dos into the daily page and to add some minor daily bits. I have got rid of monthly pages, except for a smaller 2 months to a page version JUST for birthdays and anniversaries reference, to send cards etc on time. I was finding it too stressful to keep more than one diary for the same appointments purposes and I risked mis-copying appointments across and planner fail and it stressed me out that thought even. I have an annual pull out for doctors' appointments and meds renewals and another highlighted on up for holidays and training days.I also have a third in my leisure and me section for what's on at the local movies, theatre, museums, exhibitions etc coming on up. It's an I may like to do this, rather than written in stone thing. Works for me, but has taken a couple of years to find my planner peace and I may only need minor tweaks on the way now. I wonder if anyone else has abandoned their monthlies too.... I found it too busy to look at the whole month laid out. Again stressed me out that busy packed look, afraid of missing something in the pile.... why I don't decorate pages either. A week at a glance seems copable with for me. Anyone else who is doing much the same I wonder? I can't focus if duplicating things in my planner!! xx

    1. Apart from having my weekly pages on the right instead of the left, this sounds very much like my setup. My daily page is an A7 sheet that I can take with me if I'm on the move, whilst leaving the A5 planner on my desk. When everything on the daily sheet is crossed off it goes into the recycling. It works very well for me. I made a YouTube video about it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oilFXrxCaQY&t=6s
