D.F. Sanders & Co - Lefax 1985-1986

This weeks catalogue is the D.F. Sanders & Co Lefax catalogue, again thank you to Sheldon for sending me this catalogue.

D.F Sanders & Co was The Design Store in New York with stores on Madison Avenue and West Broadway. [Source - New York Magazine]

D.F. Sanders was David F. Sanders who sadly died from complications associated with AIDS in April 1989, he was only 42 years old and the founder of the Design Store. The business closed in 1988. [Source: The New York Times]

  1. I learnt about Filofax around 1985 but it wasn't until a few years later I got my first planner. I didn't know then about Lefax. I love that catalogue, a shame we can't order such quality items now.

  2. It seems the takeover of Lefax in 1984 brought with it a revamp of the products that quite closely mirrored the changes made at Filofax a few years earlier. The leaves were modernised and the binders were made more luxurious. The two companies became clear competitors, where I think a spirit of cooperation between separate geographies had prevailed for many decades before.
