Free For All No 675 by Laurie

Recently I went to print my 2022 Philofaxy Horizontal Monthly pages that I've been using for blog post planning for several years now. Much to my dismay, I discovered they were not on the list of 2022 inserts available! What to do???

I had almost resigned myself to hand writing the entire year's worth of pages when I decided to buck up and try merging documents to create the 2022's from the source files generously created and provided by Steve and Ray (scroll down on this page to find the source files) . I am hopeless at technology, but I really wanted my horizontal monthly pages, so I gritted my teeth and dove in.

I had a slight moment of panic when the words on the screen didn't exactly match the instructions. But I persevered (with assistance from Steve's helpful video) and was able to successfully merge the files and print my 2022 horizontal monthly pages!

Not only that, I went ahead and created the 2023's and saved them in a file on my computer, ready to print next year. I also typed up instructions to myself on how I did the merge, and saved those along with the source files so I can figure out how to do it for future years (thus preventing the inevitable, "How the heck did I do that??" moment).

So now not only do I have next year's pages, I have the ability to create and print any of the Philofaxy printable pages for any year! The freedom is exhilarating!!

Huge thanks to Steve and Ray for making these available, what a wonderful service to the Philofaxy community.

As always on Fridays, feel free to ask and/ or discuss anything ring binder organiser related!

  1. Writing your own instructions up certainly helps later on. We all think slightly differently when it comes to carrying out the same tasks so once learnt, record for yourself. Nobody's instructions are easier to understand than your own!

Having said that, are there instructions (written, I'm not a video how to guy) to do that merging job with the source files? Even any destructions will help!

  4. Rant alert.......

In years gone by I've ordered refills from Filofax Sweden and have been very happy with them.

I've just tried to order again and it now appears that Filofax Sweden's website won't let me specify a UK address for shipping.

Is this another 'improvement' Filofax have dreamt up?

    Not amused at all.....................

    1. I don't think Filofax Sweden is owned by Filofax Letts Blueline. Looking on the site it shows:
      Filofax distribueras av:
      b.n.t Scandinavia AB, Sverige
      Org.nr 556 287 2837

      E-post: info@bntscandinavia.com

      Try emailing them.

But I suspect it is because UK is no longer in the EU single market therefore shipping anything to the UK requires customs declarations and adjustments to VAT etc.

    2. Interesting.......when I tried a dummy order through Filofax France it showed the estimated shipping as 'European Union'. Clearly not right, but hey.........

    7. It's also the same if I want to order something from UK now here in Europe, shipping costs have increased and there are additional taxes to pay on some items. I wanted to order a limited print run photography book at the weekend from a photography guy in UK, the book cost was £21, he wanted £11 for shipping compared to £2 in UK, but there would be additional taxes to pay on the book as well when it arrived in France. I cancelled my order. I have asked my son in London to order it and I will collect it next time I'm over!.

Vaccination is going well here we are vaccinating everyone down to 12 year olds. I have my 3rd jab booked for next week.
