Free For All Friday - No. 564 by Steve

Do you change the colour of your organiser depending on the season?

Of course it is Friday so feel free to discuss anything organiser/planning related.

Have a good weekend.

  1. I know it is only the very last day of August still, so no eye rolling please!! But do folks keep their Christmas plans in their current planner, or do you have a separate Christmas planner? Thoughts and sharing ideas would be really welcome!!!

  2. I currently own 3 ochre, 3 brown, and 3 black FF planners. And all my previous Franklin Coveu planners were also black and brown. So color planners are not something I used. Until I decided to try a original pillar box red for this summer. And really enjoy it. I can now see myself switching planners for a particular season. Red or green would work well as a Christmas color.

  3. All my planners are in neutral color pallet. Not changing colors by season per say due to what I have. I change depends on which type of leather I feel like to use at the moment.

Do you separate between your work and personal planner? I am a one book person and really want to keep both in one planner. Yet I find I need A5 for work and personal size for personal life. I tried to use A5 for both or vice versa and didn't really workout. Using two is not idea as well. What do you do?

    1. I have tried both a6 vds and travellers journal vds trying to resolve this same problem.

The a6 is a lovely in-between size which feels bigger than a personal (imo) because of similar dimensions to a5 but frustrated me as I couldn't just purchase inserts (without paying out lots of £) and I didnt have the time to produce them, although there are some lovely printable on etsy. Full back pocket means it can accommodate folded a4 paper.

I'm currently trying a travellers journal and have 4 separate books in there. One is a planner for home and work, the other is work hourly planner, then I have a random notes one and a 'project' one. This seems to work ok at the moment but we'll see over next few months as things get busier and I have more 'projects' to accommodate. There seems more space to write as rings dont obstruct writing but is not great for accommodating a4 and will require some documents being reduced and cutting and sticking into inserts as time goes on.

Neither is/was a perfect solution and I would be better off in a5 for work but it's not practical as an edc and at some points during the year I can survive on in a pocket week on two pages. I did carry an a5 notebook and a pocket vds at one point but then I had to choose which to take into meetings and inevitably ended up needing the other!

Short answer, I have same problem and no solution.

    2. Kat, I am most certainly a one life, one planner gal. I have double booked myself in the past through separating home vs work. Just does not work for me.I am single, so probably why one life one planner works for me, as less to put inside in the first place!!. xx

  4. I have a Christmas section in my planner for present ideas, cards, food etc. I only use one planner (pocket Malden) but manage to fit in everything I need.
