  1. I was making an order on the Filofax site (best not to ask ;-) ) when I took my chance to hoover up some of the few Flex by Filofax accessories remaining. I dug out my old A5 Flex and was reminded again what a clever system it is (despite some weak design issues, such as the position of the jot pad), how it lends itself to be released in various editions, colours, setups, materials and so on. So this led me to wonder ….. (1) does anybody know why Filofax abandoned the Flex idea? and (2) are there any makers that are still releasing versions of/copies of the Flex design or accessories? I found a leather version on the Rakuten Japan site. Any ideas about other sources?

  2. My understanding is that it was when Phoenix Equity Partners (venture capitalists) exited their stake and Letts Filofax Blueline was created (LFB). North American Blueline already had its “Miraclebind” System and was keen to launch it worldwide. Flex was too similar a concept and sales hadn’t met expectations, so it was dropped in favour of The Filofax Notebook - effectively a rebranded Miraclebind but in ISO sizes and using the regarded Filofax brand.

    1. Thanks Tim. I've never come across the Miraclebind range before.

  4. Lots of Flex posts on here going back to the initial announcement in May 2011

We also mentioned MiracleBind when it was initially introduced to the Filofax range in 2014 before they rebranded then on this side of the pond as Filofax Notebooks and phased out the Flex range.

  5. No question or discussion point, but just want to say thank you for keeping this site up and running. Whenever it gets crowded in my brain, I come back to Philofaxy to refresh and reset.

  7. I changed my mind. I do have a question. Does anyone know of a blogger/vlogger who plans using ONLY filofax inserts? I'm interested in paring down my planner and am looking for ideas.
