Free For All Friday - No. 621 - Steve

After a few months lead-in, Google have finally swapped over the editing interface on 'Blogger', the platform we use for Philofaxy. Most things are similar to before but there are a few annoying changing and on our side of the interface it is not so easy to 'manage' future posts as it used to be on the old interface... such is progress I guess!

Once a month I used to sit down and create all the future template posts FFAF's, FFAT, Web Finds etc, but they all now display the same creation date, rather than the publication date! They have also added a preview photo, so each post not only looks the same, but they take up more space on the screen! So I will be creating them on the fly from here onwards with a different photo from our existing collection. Another set of reminders to go in to my organiser!

Apart from that it has been a quiet month, of course COVID-19 restrictions are still with us. Although we did get away for a short holiday in France in September.

I'm about to print my inserts for next year in A5, my flirt with Personal size isn't over, but have found it easier using A5 most weeks.

What has your September been like? Of course it is Friday so please feel free to discuss anything organiser related or ask any questions.

  1. What happened to the original philofaxer from years ago? Is he still writing somewhere (blog etc)? I really like his sense of humor :)

    1. He left Nan to continue with the blog when life got busy when he had children.

He had left before I joined so I don't really know him that well. Nan might know more.

A few people have thought I was him!

  2. Designer Paul Smith has just produced a book of 50 objects to celebrate the half centenary of his brand, and I was pleased to see that Filofax was included, and also represented via the enclosing book cover with pockets.
According to publishers Phaidon “Paul Smith ... was also remarkably good at spotting popular products and placing them in his stores. He describes his role in popularizing boxer shorts in Britain – which he first came across during a trip to America, – and the Filofax - a leather-bound personal organizer which he bought from a small East End producer and sold in great numbers in his shop during the 1980s.”.

    1. I think I saw his shop in Covent Garden? It's a few years ago now so I can't be 100% about the location.

    2. Yes there has been a shop there in Floral Street since 1979.
