  1. Does anyone else find tracking feels like a fail if done weekly or monthly, when the crosses or blanks appear on the tracker rather than a done that tick!! I now track health type things daily as to me, it feels more successful to do that. As I throw out my daily pages each day if I've been too busy to say drink enough water and tick it off, then tomorrow is a new day, rather than a ruined tracked week or month. A small question I know, but I would love to hear your opinions here. I have tried to get out of my own way and track weekly or monthly, but nope, it still ends up feeling so irritating to me. Anyone else dropped or modified their tracking pages? I'd be so interested to hear about it. Thanks in advance. xxxx

  2. I would say, whatever approach ends up motivating or reminding you to get it done is the best option :-) Everyone’s brain works differently and what might be highly motivating to one person could be deeply irritating or stress-inducing for another.

If the “horror” of unticked boxes confronting you each day doesn’t encourage you to “do better” but you don’t want to give up on tracking the habit, maybe start smaller and shoot for “3 days in a row” and then expand to a week etc when that’s under control. You still get the sense of achievement without the 30-day guilt trip!

Personally I don’t track daily habits over extended periods; I go with daily reminders and use my own sense of inner guilt to keep me on the straight and narrow. Doesn’t always work LOL

  3. Mike B,you really do understand where I am at, and my planning issues here,so thank you. I am like you, I track daily and my own inner sense of guilt keeps me on the straight and narrow, far better for me, as you say psychologically and brain wise that way. I guess the issue with me is I would love to track longer term, and have slight planner envy of those who do and can approach tracking that way, but I have failed so often at it now, that daily reminders are better. I suppose I watch too many set up videos and follow too many planner posts for my own good!!! Hee heee. xx

    1. Yes it’s such a slippery slope from “planning as a means to an end” to “planning as an end to itself”.. especially on the Internet!
