My husband and I are currently rewatching an American sitcom that I love called My Name is Earl. It doesn't feature a Filofax, but the main character does have a list - 'So, I made a list of everything bad I've ever done, and one by one I'm
gonna make up for all my mistakes. I'm just trying to be a better
person. My name is Earl'. Thankfully I don't have a need to make a similar list, but it has made me think about lists and if there's anything else that I'd like to add to my Kensington.
My sleep hasn't been that good recently, so I've decided to try out something different as a bit of an experiment. As I want to get to bed earlier, I'll instead set an alarm to remind me to start getting ready for bed, and then I will be letting myself wake up naturally in the morning. I work from home and am on a completely flexible contract, plus I do start to wake earlier anyway as it's getting lighter in the mornings. I'm going to keep a list of when I get to bed and wake up, and then do a review each month to see how it's working and if I want to adjust anything.
Have you added any new lists or new things that you're tracking to your organiser recently?
And as always on Fridays, please feel free to discuss anything organiser related. I hope that you have a great weekend.
The clocks changing or changing time zones always throws out my body clock, it takes me about a week to get back in to my normal sleep pattern..... and I do like my sleep!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not tracking anything new in my organiser, but I'm just at the start of a very busy period of appointments and events so keeping track of everything is taking the lead on my planner pages. Yes I have it on my Mac, but I absorb the details better on paper.
I'm currently tracking my new exercise routine and strangely it does incentivise me to do the exercises in a way I wouldn't be if only inputting to a smartphone.
ReplyDeleteYes those sort of things are just yet another notification that you ok or confirm and then forget about!
DeleteJust have to share a happy Filofax experience. This week I finally eased my way into using a duplex style binder my wife bought me as a Christmas present. Yes I know that is a long transition, but I find I need to take my time changing formats. I have wanted one for decades, after reading about them only after they were discontinued. My wife found some new leather binders on Etsy. Now I am working with a smile on my face. This one has been 30 years of anticipation and I wasn't going to rush it. It has been worth the wait and turning out to be everything I had hoped.
ReplyDeleteI love this! So nice that it's everything you hoped it would be and more.
DeleteA couple of months ago I started using a monthly chart to track exercise, household cleaning, and personal learning (reading, and Spanish language). It has been really helpful to see how much and often I'm actually doing things, and I can see when I need to step it up. I tried using weekly trackers for a long time but didn't find them as effective as having the month overview. Now that I've been doing these trackers for awhile I can compare them month to month and see improvement, longer-term trends, etc.
ReplyDeleteAre you using a particular insert from a company or are you doing this freehand?
DeleteFor a couple of months I used grid paper to make my own monthly trackers, horizontal across a two-page spread. This month I'm using Peanuts Planner Co Habit Tracker number 154, which is oriented vertically on one page and I'm not liking the layout as well. Next month I might try their monthly tracker 101 which is across a two page spread as I prefer, or just write in grid pages again as I did before. I do like printing trackers, saves me doing everything by hand.
DeleteI finally got around to tidying up the rough conversion I did, from Personal to my PocketA size (Pocket height, Ax aspect ratio), of my recreated Filofax inserts from the mid-late 80s. So that's about 160 different inserts, in single, double, treble & quad pages; plain, ruled, quadrille, analysis, cash, graph paper, art & music, undated diaries, undated planners, memos, personal, business, military, datasets & FreeForm time management inserts.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested, pop a message here.

Are you saying you have all of these marvelous things in personal size? Because I'd certainly be interested in that.
DeleteI've made a tracker where I fill in each week which plants in my garden are flowering, and it is so fun! It has made me appreciate my garden much more.
