Do You Have a "type": What’s Your Favorite Filofax Size, Color, or Model?
I’ve been eyeing the new Filofax Camden organizer with removable rings and it got me thinking...whenever I'm considering a new organizer I’m always so torn between all the options.
Pocket, Personal, A5… do I want something compact and easy to toss in a bag, or a bigger canvas for planning and maybe some journaling too?
And don’t even get me started on the colors—I love all three of the Camden colors: black is always a classic, olive is one of my favorite colors in general, and of course I'm drawn to the mocha because I definitely DO have a type!

I gravitate toward neutral, earthy tones—tan or brown covers especially catch my eye. There’s just something warm and grounding about them.
So I’m curious—what’s your Filofax "type"?
• Do you swear by a particular size for portability or space?
• Is there a color or finish that just feels right to you?
• Or do you have a model that is your go-to: the antiqued vibe of the Malden, the structure of the Original, the big back pocket of the Classic Croc, or something else entirely?
I’d love to hear your thoughts! As always this Friday, feel free to discuss anything planner related.
Compact is the size I gravitate towards for daily affairs, but a personal is what feels 'right'. As for colours I've leaned towards burgundy and tan for years, but lately a few blacks have been early welcomed the party. The tactile experience is very important to me, for instance I love Pimlico leather for my pocket wallet, but I recently got a hold of a more practical mini Kensington that while very soft, isn't anything magical to hold.
ReplyDeleteI did a lot of complaining on here last year about the QR code issue, this year (for the upcoming 2026 diaries) Filofax have removed it across a large amount of their range, and I'm duly grateful. I just got their annual mailout announcing these and was sad to see it doesn't fairly represent the extent of the removal of the previously-universal QR codes in the animated GIF that loads with the mail. Since I was quite vocal on this I feel it only fair to give credit where due for their rapid change of policy on here. I'll definitely be returning to their refills as a result, and have a list drawn up.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the Filofax UK website, it looks like the QR codes are still on most of the A5 size weekly and daily inserts, but yes the Personal size only has a few with the QR codes on, looks like they have been removed from most.
DeleteIt's a problem that didn't need solving! The app doesn't in my opinion solve any issue that you couldn't so with a simple photograph of the page!
DeleteOr maybe they've just been monitoring sales figures, and the app uptake rate, and realised that no-one is using this system...
DeleteMy 'type' appears to be old Pockets, preferably kid leather, before the adoption of the thick leathers. So the first P5s, Lincoln, Sherwood, Windsor, Richmond, etc. And rings no bigger than 15mm.
ReplyDeleteThe other type is 'cheap'. So I am a sucker for 'interesting' ebay 'bargains', even if they are Personal, or more modern, bulkier Pockets; I have a NOS Personal 0C coming in the post. I also have a number of TK Maxx finds I need to offload at some point... Of all my binders, the average price paid is just over £10.
Sorry; that (and the sales/app uptake post) was me: had to switch to laptop to get past the regular posting error on phone.
DeleteOC arrived this morning; lovely NOS, with some old style inserts (9, 28 & 130Q with the little top right corner boxes) including buff card front & back sheets, with a map of how to find Norman & Hill at 14 Mulberry Way... The '01' STD code for London means it's pre-1990, and the old inserts suggest quite a bit older than that; late 70's?

What is NOS? It seems that it must be a well known initialisation but I don't know what it means. I'm often the last to know the meaning of these.
DeleteI also lurk on vinted as they used to be cheaper than eBay in my last experience possibly because sellers don't know the value. Plus I heard eBay traders buy on vinted to sell on through eBay with a markup.
