Modern Filofaxes come with a non-woven 'ring protector' insert, well, actually I suspect to protect the cover from the rings. I assumed this was meant to be removed, but I regularly see this insert still in place in used binders on ebay and in charity shops (most recently on a 2012 A5 Identity found at the weekend). So, do we think this ambivalence is intentional on the part of Filofax...?
ReplyDeleteKevin.
I would never leave one in my Filofax because they're ugly, but I've kept every one that I've ever gotten. It's tucked inside the box along with the tissue paper, the outer box, any bands, anything else they might have thrown in there. If I ever sell one, I want it to look exactly like it did the day it came into my house, cuz that's the kind of nerd I am.
DeleteI agree on the ugly. But in this recent A5 example, I think I would need to destroy the thing to remove it; it is fitted snugly under the riveted ring mechanism. It's black, though, the same colour as the binder...
