Free For All Friday No. 366

On this day back in 2010 we held the very first Philofaxy Meet Up in London. Five years and numerous meet ups later, we are still doing them.

In fact later today I will be flying back to London for the weekend to attend one in London tomorrow. So this one will be special in some ways I suppose, but similar in lots of other ways.

The format is similar to the very first one and similar to other ones we have held in different parts of the world.

I've lost count of the total number of meet ups I've attended, most of them have been in London without a doubt. But so far only one in France. I'm sure that might change in this forthcoming year.

Are you planning to attend a meet up in 2016?

However, it is Friday so please feel free to discuss anything organiser related, what ever the brand.

  1. I would love to attend a 2016 meet up, or perhaps organise one! I don't live all that far away from the Filofax shop in Budapest so I'm sure a few folks would be willing to attend :)

  2. I would love to attend one, but I don't think there would be enough interest for one to be held in Canberra, Australia. Wonder if we could do one virtually? Maybe via Skype?

    1. There are the monthly Skype meetings - there are two times and I've seen Kent from Oz every time I managed to join so I guess the timing isn't too bad for those in Oz :)

  8. I'm reading a book on organisational changes in museums (don't ask!). The author writes: "One cautionary note on planning. At its best, planning can be a synonym for collective learning. At its worst, it becomes a sterile preoccupation. Planning is a tool- no more and no less."

  9. How do others stop collecting? I have just purchased my 'ultimate' - a purple Malden, but now I'm lusting after a taupe Nappa AND an original Jack šŸ˜Š Obviously I don't need these, but does anyone else feel the 'need' for more planners than they can handle?

    1. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "stop" ;)
And realistically I have a financial limit, I would love to own one of everything I like, but I won't use them all, and I don't have space for them so I limit myself to the "best" (full Malden collection) and "rarest" (M2 and Deskfax) :)

    2. If you have a collection of binders you love, try the 'one in, one out' method. Your current number of binders is the maximum you're allowed to own, and if you buy another one you have to get rid of one of your current collection. That will stop you buying unnecessary ones if you don't love them as much as your current binders :)

    1. Hi SSA, yes, it's still available. The product code is 6841716 and you can purchase it from filofax.fr and filofaxusa.com. I'm sure you'll be able to find it on Amazon and Ebay as well.

  11. I will probably switch to a smaller pocket binder than my Franklin pocket one. I prefer one that is not heavy and thick for some meetings and errands without my handbag. In my Franklin binder I drew my Wo2P layout with longer lines for the rest of the year. For the potential binder I cannot fit this format on a smaller page. I have thought of a different insert for the smaller binder. I like the size and style of the Franklin pocket one; however I want a binder that is more lightweight and discreet in some outings.
