I have seen many photos of other red Winchesters which appear to be a much deeper shade of red. Mine is a very pure cadmium red, with quite a lot of orange. Can't tell which is closest in the photos above.
The "bright red" is the less common, and is arrestingly red, reminding me of Christmas, whereas the "dark red" is quite sober and business-like. Sounds as though yours is the bright variety Josh.
