    1. STICKERS!

Also I found having a year planner or monthly planner pages was critical for deadlines. The most important thing is find a layout that works for you, there are so many different ones that sticking with week on two pages just beacuse it came with the filofax might end up being less organised than a day per page or even a week on one pages with notes or vertical WO2P.

    2. Post it notes, repositionable flags. Marhta STewart has a very good line out now. Pilot Frixion pens. They come in about 5 - 6 colours and you can erase them. Highlighters (dry) so they don't bleed. If you look at Filofax blogs and videos on You tube you will see Washi Tape. A mainstay for any serious Filofaxer who is into colour. If you are on Facebook Jessica I would recommend that you come on over to the Filofax for Philofaxt fans group. Lots of people to meet and regular photos and ideas being mashed around!! Love to see you there! Bec

  2. Hmm. I wonder if I'm unusual then...? I have only just got any kind of stickers for my planner (and haven't used them much), I don't have any Post-It notes or repositional flags, I have never successfully used either a year planner or a month planner and I don't use Frixion pens...
    Am I weird??

    1. No, not unusual. There are many in the Facebook group who just "old school it" as I like to say. I don't use all the colours etc.. myself. Just occasionally put in a bit of colour if I am feeling a bit down. I use the Frixion pens as I ALWAYS mess up or change my mind!! :)

    2. Not weird - unique. Aren't we all? We all use our Filos in the way that works best for us, and that's the way it should be.

      To each their own!

    3. The year planner saved me a LOT of hassle doing work days before its due because i am terrible at looking forward on the weekly pages! deadlines and things tend to slip through the gap and when I was at uni i ended up starting work on a monday that was due on friday! i've never used a month planner but I know some people prefer them to year planners. I don't use frixion pens because the short period of time I used mujo erasables I ended up getting far too fussy about how messy my planner looked so i decided to stop caring.

Stickers just brighten everything up, especially as i only use one pen! and the only repositional flags i use dont get repositioned and are my side and top tabs (I only have 7 of them). I dont use post-its because i always forget theyre in the pocket of my filofax!

My year planner is now just a track of what i've done at work on a daily basis (ie which project ive worked on for how many hours) It makes timesheet day easier!

    4. @ Amanda
I use a few small stickers, but not as decor. They mark recurring things I then don't have to write out, such as: round dot, irregular cat medication schedule; star, home hockey game (team is named Stars); heart, meeting of journaling group; etc. The stickers don't take up much space and are easy to spot as reminders.

    5. I like the frixion pens - my schedule can change with training courses and meetings begin shifted, and I have to record provisional dates which often don't come to anything. Being able to rub out and entry is really useful. I use purple for work and green for personal. However I don't use other stickers etc - I can't be doing with the perceived 'disorder' it brings!

    6. I have loads of bits and pieces to use in my filo, but I rarely use any of it... :-)

    7. A pencil with a rubber on the top works for me :) I've heard the Frixion ink 'disappears' under certain circumstances....not something I'd care to experience......

  3. Does anyone know where I could find an accurate information about ring sizes in all kinds of A5, pesonal, and pocket FF?

    1. On Philofaxy: go to Files, scroll to Reference files and click Filofax Size Guide. I think that´s what you´re looking for.

  4. When I was once working with someone I was admiring their Filefax. They said that a quantity of leather recovered from the Mary Rose had survived in good condition because it was compressed deep inside a thick bundle. They said that a limited edition of Filofaxes had been made from the leather and that theirs was one of them. Has anybody else heard this story and know if it is true? I would think that if so then one of these Filofaxea would be quite valuable.

    1. Never heard of this before - he may well be pulling your leg. Have you tried googling it? Otherwise why not ask Filofax on their Facebook page - they should know!

  5. I just got my first Filofax on Friday (a Metropol personal in raspberry). The W2P diary that came with it works perfectly for me, but that might change once I find a job later.

I'm a big kid and proud of it, so stickers, washi tape, an understatedly playful magnetic bookmark and a few postcards as page dividers have already made their way into my Filo. I have a few ideas for later and look forward to implementing them.

I had no idea getting organized could be so much fun!

    1. i found the W02P worked fine for the first 6 months or so until I realised that the largest chunk of each day was a to-do list that often got erased and moved to the next day, I now use week on one page with notes which has enough space for essential daily stuff and a weekly to do list, which still seems to get moved regularly to the next week when i run out of time but seems to work better in general.

Everyone has different needs from the diary pages! I don't use my filofax for work other than vertical yearly planner and the odd day when i know in advance i'll be working late.

As for stickers, I am on a paperchase ban until I have used up the 9 sheets i still have sitting in a drawer!

  6. About a year ago I found a lovely Mulberry Ostrich Agenda in very good condition - it just had one fault: SMELL!! It was really, really bad (mothball, mildew, old suitcase in a wet cellar..) and I´ve tried about everything "known to mankind" to get rid of this smell.. nothing worked! So 2 days ago I decided I would not use it in this condition anyway and I just as well could try something drastic: I put it in the washing machine (with saddle soap) and afterwards into the dryer. It came out perfect! No more bad smell, the leather soft and shiny . It is one of the old Agendas - so no cardboard etc. sewn into it. Has anybody else tried something like this and how did it turn out?

    1. Haven't tried anything like that as I don't have any leather filofaxes but another trick would be to freeze a smelly leather filofax for a few days...might be a solution for those with cardboard bits in them. The key is to seal the filofax in a plastic bag to ensure no water gets in it.

Other products that could work similar to saddle soap are Leather Groom and Vulpex (at a 10% concentration in white spirit). How commercially available the latter is, I have no idea, I'm approaching this from the perspective of a historical object conservator!

  7. Hello everybody,

I've just purchased a red Metropol Slimline (preowned but new) and the seller sent along a full French week-per-page-with-notes 2013 refill, unused, and complete with all general information, registration sheet, etc.

I won't need it as I find I don't use a diary anymore, so I could send it (free of charge) to whomever might be interested.

Here is what this refill looks like (please be aware that Monday to Saturday are on the left page, and Sunday is on the bottom of the right page, under the "notes" section) :
