Free For All Friday - No. 618 by Anita

https://www.911memorial.org/
I was going to write one of my normal Free For All Fridays for today, but realised that nothing that I can say is more important, so have just added a link to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

And as always on Fridays, please feel free to discuss anything ringbound organiser related.
Have a great weekend.

  1. The Easter just before 9/11, I was part of a staff team that took Y10 and 11 students on a pupil teacher exchange to Conneticut. We visited Boston and NY and went up The Twin Towers. I remember our lift operator, a young lass, just starting out on her first job and so proud to be working in The Twin Towers. She just shone with excitement to be doing her job. When the planes hit, all I could think of was I hope that lass was off work that day and is okay. A dear friend and colleague of mine also died on 9/11 but not in The Twin Towers or other related disasters that occured that day. She is in my planner every year so that I say a prayer and remember not only 9/11's Twin Towers and other airline tragedies that day, but also pray for the lift girl wherever she is and my colleague Kelly who passed away on 9/11. RIP, a sad day of remembrance for me for many reasons.xxxx

  2. Moving stories, Butanben.....

A few days before 9/11, my wife's brother and his wife, and another brother all went to Manhattan to visit. On evening of 9/10, they went to the top of one of the Towers to see the view.

They were in a big shock the next day!

It took a few days before they could leave NY....

A very sad event and important to commemorate and not forget.

  3. My goodness, ArchiaMark 9/11 was certainly one of those there for the grace of God moments for your family. I travelled through King's Cross underground on the day of the King's Cross fire I remember, and by some fluke travelled in the morning instead of in the late afternoon as scheduled. My friend was shopping with her sister in Harrods on the day of the IRA bomb there and stepped outside, stopping off for a coffee and cake in a cafe opposite, so she had a full view of the explosion and its aftermath and had such a narrow escape too. It makes me think that we can plan out our lives in our planners and dated set ups, and feel up and together and organized, but can never know really and truly what lies ahead for us and our loved ones on any day. I never would have thought for example that 2020 would be the year of such a global pandemic and could never have envisaged what it has all entailed. We can only plan to a certain extent as sometimes life happens to us in curveballs!! xx

Wow! you and friend have had some miracle moments too.....

And yes, who would have thought 2020 would be such a year....

"Man plans and God laughs", as the old saying goes....

    Stay safe,
