Which personal organiser would you buy in 2021 as your first organiser?

Think about this for a moment before you dive in to the comments! You are going to comment aren't you... promise me you will.....

You have decided you are going to use a paper organiser, how you decide that in 2021 doesn't matter.

You might have come across one of the many groups on Facebook. Or you have looked at lots of photos on Instagram, Or dipped your toe in to the many videos on You Tube.

You start looking around and to be honest the choice and price range is fairly wide these days.

Even within the scope of 'leather' organisers. Sure there is leather and there's leather.... the quality does vary, but there's still a lot to choose from and in some ways it is easier to sort out what to buy by asking peoples opinions, compared to 1986 at least!

What would you buy as your 'First Organiser' ?  New or Used? Size? Let us know in the comments.....

  1. I am very jealous of the personal ochre Malden, especially the old ones. I think I would choose that. Or a black Holborn maybe.

  2. Hmmmm I think if I was buying my first ever organiser - I would actually go for the cheaper offerings of the Filofax Domino, personal sized. That way I could ascertain if the systm works for me wihtout too much financial outlay.

  3. I think I would still go with the domino which is what I started out with 15 or so years ago! It’s stuffable, simple and affordable

  4. Either: a cheap domino to check I like the format and work out what I want in terms of pockets etc.

Or: jump in with a beautiful leather one that makes me want to use it all the time and accept that I can sell it or swap in the future if it’s not quite right

  5. I think it would be something color full, leather, not too expensive rather in the lower price sector for a leather planner. So I think it would be an Original in burnt orange, pear or turquoise....

  6. I think I would start with a Filofax Notebook and make my own week on 1 page, assuming I can get the punch.

  7. I would start with a Filofax notebook with punch, and make my own week on one page with notes on the right. I really like the bigger paper, but with the ability to fold back the cover.

  8. If it were my very first, I'd try a clipbook, or a second hand one off ebay to see if I liked the system before committing

  9. If I had none of my Filofaxes I would buy Malden in mini, personal and A5 sizes... rather preloved ones I prefer, but with nowadays custom fees I would buy new ones from the only Hungarian site...

  10. I would look for a preloved older Holborn and buy original Filofax inserts with one week on two pages. Oh, that’s what I am using already 😁

  11. Great question!
I would buy a well used black personal Kensington, like the one that I'm using. I've bought & sold SO many over the years, but the soft leather, simple design & layout just suit me perfectly. Plus you can pick them up for a cheap price, so it wouldn't be much of a risk as a first buy.

  12. I would buy a filofax domino. I still have one on my desk. Currently using a vintage Mulberry for every day and a pocket Pimlico when I’m out and about, to jot things down..

  13. Oooh good question, Steve! If I was a student, I would start with the new Pop in personal size because it's cheap. Otherwise I would choose The Original in personal also, for the fantastic flatability.

  14. I actually just received my first organizer a week or so ago...the Lockwood A5 in cognac. Love love love it!

  15. Whatever was cheap, plain and dark/sober coloured in WHSmith. With any organisation system or planner I think it's important to find out if it suits you before committing to a big outlay. I did that with my second one, my first was a gift and too small to be of use IMHO. I bought a personal but wish it was A5 after some use. My first was pocket and TBH I think that size is only useful as a diary because it's too small. Keep your dates not your life sort of a size. Not useful for me as I need an organiser not a diary. My phone can be a diary but not an organiser.
