Is there one......

Is there a Filofax that you have ever regret selling or giving away? May be you have even gone out and bought another one?

  2. The Tracely. DEFINITELY missed out on that one!
All kidding aside, I really would like the ever elusive Mini Kendal and now I'm really day dreaming of a 1980's slimline, any style in black...

  3. The Personal Black Amazona!! I REALLY regret swapping it.

  4. My first Filofax was the Ochre Malden. Sold it. Regretted it. Bought another one. Eventually sold that, too. REGRETTED IT, and bought another one. This is my third Ochre Malden and I am not letting go this time. Thankfully I've had good ones each time. I also had the Crimson Malden at one point. Wish I didn't get rid of that one, too. I doubt I'd be able to find another one now. :(

  5. Not yet; my Portland, Tejus, and Sherwood just weren't me. However, I'll NEVER get rid of Mr Malden!

  6. I am currently hanging on to ones I probably won't use because I am too scared of regretting it! All of them are discontinued so would be a hassle to track down again if I did.

  7. Sometimes regret having sold my ochre Malden, but I remind myself that I still have two very nice binder, Hampstead and Cuban. I don't think I would buy another, unless it was to move to black.

  8. My first proper filofax was a grey Winchester - a 4CLF 7/8. I even had the leather coin holder for it. I moved into a tan Sherwood at some point, then migrated off paper onto a PalmPilot. A few years later, donated the Winchester to a charity shop as I wasn't using it. Doh!

Nowadays after getting back into paper in general and filofax in particular, I'm looking around for another Winchester; but they aren't common - and tend to be at least as expensive in real terms secondhand as that first grey one was when I bought it new!

    1. Not sure if you are the one with all the beautiful Vintage Filofaxes on Flicker (I can't remember names) but if so, wow, what a collection. Can someone please tell me why more 'tan' Filofaxes weren't/aren't made. Am I the only one lusting after a rich, buttery, classic looking Filofax in tan? Not Ochre. Not Mushroom. Not Caramel. TAN! The Ostrich Buttercup is close but not quite. I'm talking a nice, rich, British Tan (or what I, as an American, consider a 'British' tan). That's all. Your mention of a tan Sherwood got me on a role. Sorry!

    2. That would be roll, not role. Sheesh.

  9. By the way - what's the black pocket filo in the second picture on this post? Can anyone enlighten me?

  10. I regretted selling my personal crimson Malden when I decided to upgrade to the A5 size. Luckily I managed to do a swap & I'm very content now :)

  11. I so regret selling my sweet personal mushroom Aston; it didn't have enough pockets, but it is such a pretty color and is so soft. I miss it.

    1. There are some in TKMAXX at the moment (I saw one on Tuesday). Would you like me to keep an eye out for one for you?
      £35 I think.

    2. I just sold mine, I hope I don't regret it! It is so soft and classy looking but I was needing some color in my life!

    3. Thank you Natalie, I appreciate the offer; I'd really love to have the Aston again, but I know it will not get used enough. I'm going to stick with my 4 Holborns.

    1. Oh please Joseph, that is a rare one off. Only one was ever made! And a City Organiser bought it.... Tracy will be hurt when she reads your comments!

    2. No way Joseph, it is awesome!! I always wished I had been the lucky recipient of the Tracyley.

I don't exactly regret selling my personal Urban, because I never used it and I know it's getting love now, but any time I see a picture of an Urban I get a pang.

    3. Joseph! That is the rare and beautiful Tracyley! Came out shortly after the god-awful Temperley line (lingerie against the skin... puke). The Tracyley is FASHIONABLE and fabulous!

    4. The Tracyley is absolutely hideous! I'm not even joking!

  14. I have settled back in my personal planner with 1.2 inch rings. I was thinking about using my A5 Boston as a main planner but I decided that it will be a stay at home planner. I have not sold or given away any of my three Filofax planners. I have bought some planners of other brands for gifts. I have a black slimline planner that I will probably give to a friend. The malden looks nice. I did not think that I would like it because it seems floppy. Anyway I already have enough planners so for now I won't even ponder buying another one.

    1. On a side note, does anyone know of a week on two pages refill on white paper for the personal size Filofax with equal space for each day with lines? The Filofax one has more space for the weekdays and has the small month calendar on Sunday. I looked at a Levenger one (Item SPR75) but then I would have to repunch the holes. I want one that is already punched correctly. I don't want one that I have to print. I can get the Levenger one and repunch the holes if I can't find one another one. I thought I would ask since many of you probably already have your 2014 inserts. Thanks for any input.

    2. I found a personal size refill that fit the bill. I also found a Wo2P refill for my A5 Boston that has lines for each day but has a smaller space for Saturday and Sunday. I will have to repunch the larger refill but not the personal size one. The personal size one has equal space for each day. I will probably receive both in several days because of the last minute rush for the mail. Merry planning.

  15. I sold my zip Franklin Quest binder to Erin in California... later I asked her if I could buy it back but she most generously gave it back to me! The zip binder was the donor for the 1.5 inch rings I am using in my green monster.

For the most part, though, I do not regret selling any of them.

    1. And I sold my 5/4 Winchester to you and have no regrets whatsoever!
Just thoroughly delighted that it's gone somewhere it will be loved and used rather than looked at.

  16. I may have accidentally bought a Personal Aston this week, and realised immediately that it's not going to work as a planner/diary so I am going to do something completely different with it.

  17. Back in 2010, I missed out ordering their last Personal Eton by just a month, according to an apologetic US retailer. In our phone conversation, he said they had sold Filo's since the 1980's and that it was one of their favorites.

    1. John,
There is a slimline Eton on the Vintage Filofax group on Facebook. It's not mine, but sold by a reputable member.

  18. I miss my very first Franklin Quest binder from the mid 90s. It was a black bonded leather open binder that came packaged with their software and some training tapes. Nothing special but I loved it! Years later I jumped on the palm pilot wagon and sold my binder at a yard sale. I wish I still had it, just for nostalgia's sake.

  20. Ugh, I deleted my comment so I could correct something and then I couldn't paste it back in. I'm too tired to type the whole thing out again...but yes, I've had seller's remorse to some degree. But I've also been on the receiving end of someone else's remorse and it didn't end well for me. Lessons learned. I also have considered selling a few binders where I've had to check myself before I wrecked myself because I know there would be big time seller's remorse if I did sell them. This was a great post, by the way, and I enjoyed reading everyone's comments. I gave away all of my FC binders back in the day and sometimes I wish I had kept a few, had I known the quality was going way down and all the stores were to close. But nothing too terribly missed.

  21. Not yet, but I know I'd regret it big time if I sold any of the Baroques since they're so hard to come by, and go for sky-high prices on ebay. I wouldn't be able to afford to buy them back at the prices they're going for.
