Filofax Music Manuscript

Looking through my 'stash' of old inserts that have come from a variety of different sources, I came across an unopened pack of form 210 dated 1984 in Personal size.

I believe this insert was also available in Deskfax size as well, which would make more sense.

I'm not a music composer, so I don't know how much music you would get on to a page like this.

Are any of you music composers?

  1. I wish they still made this! I punch holes in music MS paper myself and put in one of my FF, but it would haver been cool to have the official version from FF

  2. If you were a composer it would be good to note down a theme or a riff. It's too small to write multi instrumentation on, but you could write a melody for a solo instrument on it. I think a composer would use it as a notebook to not an musical idea down.

    1. Indeed, for that moment of inspiration that would otherwise just disappear.

  3. Big enough for a quartet and piano parts and certainly vocal solo and piano/4 part SATB choir and piano. I'd use this paper as a notebook for planning chordal progressions and ideas. When we did orchestration at college the manuscript paper for all the orchestral parts was massive. Beethoven carried a small notebook of manuscript paper such as this for ideas when out and about, he glued new manuscript strips on top the old jottings. Forensic researchers unglued parts of his notebooks and they found often he'd gone round in a circle right back to idea number 1!!!

    1. Hi Butanben…that’s a great anecdote.
