Do you ever think you get to a point when you have seen a particular model or make of organiser many times that the initial wow factor of seeing it becomes diluted to the extent you no longer crave to own one?
No sir, the very first moment our paths collided with Balmoral, I knew we were meant to walk side by side through this life. Due to its ambitious price, I felt the need to hover above and around it for few months to first really justify the ridiculous sum of it and the use I will have for the binder. I figured it was worth the investment and I actually made a small dinner for my closest friends to come to see and gush about the new friend. We were very young and fun folk back in those days. But nope. Months of reasoning and saving never deterred my want for the thing. Only made it stronger.
Yes. Yhe images on the site aren't very self explanatory. Once someone does a video or post and really talks about it, its easier to know if it will work for me. An example is I liked the original but when Laurie's review posted the videos started showing up I realized I couldn't make it work because of the too short closure strap. And I really wanted the aqua malden but after watching the videos I realized it's probably best bought in person - covers vary some in texture (again) and its very hard to know the color online. It doesnt seem to be the color I envisioned.
I don't think so, I've not done a website check across all the sites to see if any are still available. They occasionally pop up on Adspot of course. Mine was the first Malden I bought back in about 2011
No. I bought a Malden Pocket Ochre a few weeks ago and it's the nearly perfect Filofax for me. Except for the pen loop which doesn't leave enough room for the tabs. But this is a problem which many new Filofaxes have.
Yes indeed. I really really wanted an Original from the moment of debut, but waffled so long about the color and saw so many videos and blogs featuring it, that the model just plain lost its' luster.
Talking of pen loops, did you have a chance to speak about those to the staff of Filofax, when you met with them? It would be very interesting to hear what they think about that issue! I still find it very awkward that many new FFs have pen loops that are turned and sewed to the inner side. It constantly colides with the tabs...
Why does it seem like the pocket size filo's wear and look used quicker? I've had mine less than a month, and I've been very very careful with it and already the corners are rubbing off, the top near the stitching is getting a little icky, and despite the fact that I make sure it is never overfilled the snap popped off and I had to super glue it back on.
I was wondering which Filofax people prefer. Do you prefer the personal Malden or the personal Guildford? I was thinking of getting one of them towards the end of the year.
I have both, and love both for different reasons. The guilford has the secretarial pocket, which is something you don't find often in a personal. On the other hand, the Malden is soooo nice. The leather is good on both, though a little puffy on the guilford and thin and soft on the Malden. My personal preference between the two is the Malden, as in I have a constant use for that one, while the guilford is sitting empty on my shelf. I understand that the guildfords are hard to come by these days? If you find yourself wanting that one over a Malden, shoot me an email and we can discuss. :)
Hi everyone. I'm new to this and delighted to find this group. Does anyone know where I can get strong, pretty, stick on index tabs so I can make my own dividers? I have lots of old birthday etc cards I want to use as dividers but want something a bit fancy to stick on them as an index tab. Thankyou!
I recently purchased a new classic personal and realized that it holds fewer pages than my old one. Which personal size organizer holds the largest number of pages ?
The Classic has thicker, firmer, leather than the Holborn, and is therefore less 'stuffable'. Something like the Cuban Zip, with its 30mm rings, can hold a fair number of pages.

DeleteNo. Everytime I see that red malden in your blog header I cry a little at how much I wants it! ;)
ReplyDeleteAre red Maldens still in production?

Good idea. Those pen loops are the only reason I might buy a Gillio or a Mullberry one day.

DeleteForgot to mention that my old one was a holborn. By the way, pens and leather shows that Malden's will be available soon.
