Free For All Friday No. 460 by Laurie

It's always good to be prepared in case of emergency. There have been a lot of weather emergencies and natural disasters lately, in North America and elsewhere in the world. And unfortunately a medical emergency can happen at any time.

We had a medical emergency with my daughter this week. She suddenly had an allergic reaction to something and her lips started to swell. We are very lucky to live only 5 minutes from the doctor, so I got her in and treated right away. She is fine, and will have allergy testing to see what causes her to react so we know what to avoid in the future.

There are a variety of pages/ information that are useful to have in your Filofax/ ring binder in case of emergencies:

Contact information in case your phone goes dead or if you need to give this information to someone else to contact someone on your behalf.

Lists of medical conditions and medications are always important to keep with you.

A list of allergies and sensitivities is also important to have with you.

What information do you keep in your Filofax in case of emergencies?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss and/ or ask anything ring-binder related!

  1. So sorry to hear of your daughter's allergies. I had something similar, turned out to be oranges and rye allergens and I've since reacted to hazelnuts too. I wish her well. I now have a medical home made emergency ID card in my purse (money wallet) to hand over in an emergency, I'm diabetic too BTW. I made it from a site called Big Huge Labs. Easily found on a search engine. Handy to have, as in an emergency one does not think as clearly as at other times, adrenaline flows, and if it's something business card sized, in your money purse wallet then it is portable and with you all the time. Can I just wish the USA Philofaxers well in these hurricanes. Awful! Stay safe everyone, stay safe. xx

  2. Sorry to hear about your daughter, Laurie, but glad it turned out OK.

Great reminder about need to have analog info in case the digital world goes silent.

Made me realize I need to put some info in my binder for emergencies....

  3. I was thinking about the same thing today. The need for all of that info and the possibility of needing to direct others to get it. My wake up was spending 8 days at the hospital to help my folks when Dad was admitted.
