  1. Could anyone please give me the dimensions of a Portland Grand when closed? Thanks.

  2. I have acquired a Filofax Winchester (very exciting).

The cover on the press stud closure is cracked. It hasn't fallen off completely.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix it? Glue? Nailvarnish?
    Maybe it could be recovered.

    Pictures at www.nataliefergie.com.

I don't really want to use it until I've secured the cover.

  3. Natalie, I'd contact Filofax, maybe they could put on one of their new popper buttons from the new ranges, which will complement it, or indeed may have an old stock of popper items/buttons. Also an old fashioned shoe repair shop or leathersmith can work wonders often. Hope you get it fixed! xx

    1. Thank you.
I've been doing a little careful de-construction and I have an idea I'm going to try out.
It won't be up to the standards of any Filofax purists out there, but it does provide a different solution to the problem.
I'll be back when I know if it works - or not, failure is an acceptable outcome if it's in the interests of keeping a vintage Filofax in operation.

  4. I'd second the suggestion on a show repair place - they can do wonders and still retain the orgiinal look. Good luck!

  5. I have a personal Finsbury Filofax. It doesn't open very easily. Should I put something heavy on it to train it to open more easily? Will it damage the Filofax?

    1. I had a finsbury once. No matter what I did it never laid flat. Flat-ability is a big thing for me, so I ended up giving it away. Good luck!

    2. My daughter-in-law has one, too. She did put books on each side to hold it flat. She also bent it back and forth very gently a few times. It doesn't lay flat but it does stay open on the counter.

    3. I also gave my Finsbury a good workout before putting him to use this month. He'll never lay as flat as my Chameleon, but I'm happy with my summer filo!

  6. Another question.
How heavy is standard Filofax paper in g/sqm?
Unlike the rest of the world, I rather like it and don't mind the lighter weight at all.
Any idea where i could get some in the UK?
    80g/sqm is a bit heavy.

    1. I think it is 70 g/sqm But there's a great proof of this in this video: http://youtu.be/IktjBb48ODc

    2. Love it!

Any idea who might stock it?
Google is not being my friend.

  7. Filofax Italy have listed the aqua coloured Malden accessories on their site. Hopefully this will mean the binder will be available everywhere soon!

  8. Does anyone know the size of the holes on the mini? It looks smaller to me than the Personal. Thanks (Chicabooda)

    1. Yes, they are smaller on the mini - approx. 4mm in diameter (pocket and personal has approx. 5mm.). But my metal Filofax Pocket punch makes holes the same size - 4mm. Quite useful, smaller holes = more space to write.

    2. Thank you. That's just what I needed to know.

  9. I have just received two emails from Filofax, with discount codes. Perhaps that could be of interest to some of you ?

    - Filofax France : 10% on filofax.fr with the code : fp1137 (not applicable on items already discounted, apparently). Until June 10th.

    - Filofax Italia : 15% on filofax.it with the code : GIU152013 (on all items, apparently). During the month of june.

    Voilà :)

  10. For those that wish Franklin Covey sold something besides brown and black they have classic size (81/2" x 5 1/2" paper) in a lizard print leather binder. Orange, teal, red, and plum. Search their website for "exotic binder" and they are on sale for $48.97 until the end of the month.

  11. The Filofax USA website has a very limited variety of choices right now, any idea when they will start offering new styles and colors?
