The Return of the Filofax Mini?

A few people spotted that Filofax Japan had shared some photos of new colours for the Filofax Malden on line.

Looking in to this even closer we noticed that they included the Mini size. Something that disappeared in other markets a couple of years ago.

Here are the photos from Instagram.

There is a Filofax Japan on-line store but it is all in Japanese naturally.

However, Amazon Japan can be viewed in English, with some interesting translations! The Malden Mini is available for 13200 Yen (about £92)

Will these also appear in UK, Europe and USA? We will have to wait and see I suspect.

Would you use a Mini if they became available again?

  1. Can mini pages be fitted into a personal binder? If so a Heritage mini would be an intriguing possibility for me. Otherwise I’d use M2 if I needed something that small.

  2. I'm currently using a mini and it was hard to find one after my really old one went to pieces. I would be very happy to see minis available again in more stores.

  3. I wouldn’t use a Mini for two reasons - firstly, as a left-hander, writing around the rings on tiny pages would be a nightmare. It’s bad enough in Pocket size! Secondly, I’m struggling with my eyes these days. I had perfect eyesight until I was 50, but now need quite strong glasses. One of the “joys” of growing older!

I had a mini in ochre in the past but sold it. Ochre is not my color but I like the format so much.

  6. There's a shop here in Dublin (Eason on Nassau St) that has had ten pink Finsbury Minis in the Filofax section for ages, if anyone's been looking for them.

  10. I have an old slim mini "Executive" which works perfectly as a wallet.

I love the mini cotton cream day to a page refills but have never seen a binder fat enough to house a full year.

My vote would be for another leather or plastic bound slim mini like my Exec model - for wallets and one with extra large rings for pocket day management.

  11. I'm scouring the internet for a coral Finsbury Mini - if one of those turns up in shops like TKMaxx, or online for a suitable price, I will be all over it!
I think a mini would make a great 'going out' wallet/planner combo, for conventions and suchlike, when bags are too big. Just a shopping list, emergency details, cash and a debit card or two.

  12. i know i’m late to this post, but i just purchased my very first filofax about a week ago - a malden mini in ochre - for about half the website-listed price, on amazon, just because it’s a 2023 model. coming from chic sparrow traveler’s notebooks, i wasn’t sure how i would feel about the leather and the rings, but so far i am totally in love. using it as my wallet, coming from a ‘nano’ chic sparrow, and i truly adore it. going to order the orchid one next, i just wish it were easier to find clear pockets and dividers for this size
