Free For All Friday - No. 842 by Anita

Whilst finalising work before my Christmas break, I decided that it was time to start thinking about what I want to do or choose not to do when I'm off. I always give my Filofax a clean and a clear out, but wanted to try out something new this festive season to help me relax and recharge. 

Some years ago, I used to keep a TLC list in my A to Z section, but I stopped using it as I just forgot to add things. So here we have my new version... I jotted down the first 20 activities that came to mind that either I enjoy doing and/or will make me feel better. My husband (A) has lots of dice from when he used to roleplay (we met when I joined his roleplaying group), so I have borrowed a D20 to help me pick something from my list. I also like that this particular die has lots of history, as it was one of the ones from when he first started playing Dungeons & Dragons as a child. This list isn't one that I am looking to complete, but instead a reminder to ensure that I'm taking the time to do things that I enjoy, and the focus is on simple things that I already own and can easily do.

Free For All Friday - No. 841 - Steve

The podcast is returning... after a prolonged 2 year break we are back. 

Karine and I managed to synchronise our schedules and get a suitable time to record episode 134. 

Life basically just got in the way. Karine has moved house twice and not short moves either, so we have just been patient and carried on as best we can until the time was right to start again. 

Refreshed and hopefully with some new ideas, although we are always open to new ideas of course. 

At the time of writing, I've managed to edit/mix the recordings, the software I use has gone through a few changes since I last used it so there was a bit of a learning curve!! 

The episode will be released next week. If you haven't listened to the podcast before, with 133 episodes already released and each one is about 30 minutes, there should be a topic of interest in some of them.

Of course it is Friday, so please feel free to discuss anything Filofax related. 

Filofax A5 Lockwood Zip - Revisited

It is several years since I got this organiser and reviewed it along side the Personal size zip. Just over 10 years ago in fact.  I will not repeat the detail that you will find in that review.

However, as part of my desire to use more of my A5 organisers I chose this one to start with, it is one of the few A5 Zip organisers that I own and the only one with 25mm rings the others are either bigger (Holborn zip -30mm) or smaller (Malden and Fusion iPad/Organisers 20mm) 

As I commented with the original review the A5 zip lays totally flat, and the personal size zip is quite good too, and I would think it would improve with use. 

In actual use I've found the pocket arrangements adequate for my needs. It has two elasticated pen loops one in the front the other at the back, so not lacking there either. 

On the outside there is a slip pocket on the front and a zip pocket on the back cover, these can save you from having to unzip the organiser to place something inside or retrieve a slip of paper stored in one of these pockets. 

The leather does show finger nail scratches, but these blemishes quickly disappear over time with a bit of TLC. It is a very smooth leather. It's too early to say if in constant use how it would stand up to daily use. 

The outer zipper has a nice leather tab which works smoothly when closing the organiser and with my 'fill' of pages of a full 12-13 months of week on two pages and other home-printed inserts on 80gsm paper, (about 20mm thick) it closes just fine with no bulges or difficulty. 

Being a zip closure does make the overall size of the organiser factionally bigger than a clasp closure organiser. But you do gain the extra protection/security of being an all around enclosed organiser. 

I've not tried a clasp closure Lockwood, but I can recommend the A5 Lockwood Zip it is certainly a well made organiser and will serve most people well.
