Free For All Tuesday No. 161

Tuesdays are your chance to ask any Filofax related questions you might have.

Even if it's not Tuesday you can still post your questions here, just pick the most recent FFAT or FFAF.

So fire away and we will collectively try to answer your questions or offer opinions.

  1. Just returned from an all morning business networking event, where I was pleased to see at least two well-used Filofaxes, both A5, in addition to my own Personal Hampstead. This among a group of about 25 attendees. Additionally to this, at least one 'old school' bound diary (A4), and the person giving the central presentation on social media had his visuals on an A0 flip-chart. When questioned, why not on a PowerPoint presentation, he simply replied, "Paper doesn't crash".

The only person in the room who had tried to bring a contribution on their tablet was unable to access it, and therefore unable to contribute.

Maybe the message is finally getting across.........

  2. I've just spent two days at a conference where the majority of us were taking manual notes. In fact, I spotted two other Filofaxes (again both A5, one Finsbury and one Original?). However, during the speedily presented PowerPoint slide we were able to take photos of the screen which did help with trying to write very quickly. A great combination of both digital and analogue.

  3. Hello everyone. I bought my Personal Fusion Filofax mainly because of the pocket on the left inside that could hold my iphone. However, I found myself stuffing it with index cards, notes, stickers, etc. instead. Are there other models with pockets big enough for a phone? I would also be interested and hearing how other people use their deep pocket in their Filofax.

    1. TVDIVA - I have a Guildford personal zip and the outside pocket is perfect for my Samsung Galaxy S2. I didn't want a zip version but I did want a personal with 30mm rings. I was struggling to get a Cavendish so as an interim measure I bought this. The zip is now growing on me because I can keep so much extra stuff in it. I might stay with this rather than move to a Cavendish (although I am watching one at the moment!)

    2. The new leather flex has a phone pocket in it. Suits my iPhone even with a protector type case fitted to it.

  4. At work there are about a dozen of us with filofaxes/equivalent.
We are also all the organised ones who can note a change to a meeting time/date in a jiffy, then have to sit and wait for thee smart-phone users to catch up...
    :-)

  6. I'm considering trying out A5, as I really miss having a large week view. I'm particularly interested in the Luxe (small rings, but weird pen loops) and Chameleon. Has anyone owned either or both of them in A5 and have any thoughts/preferences?

    1. Billie - you can click on the Suppliers link above, try Pen Boutique, Pens and Leather, Goldspot and Amazon (I have purchased from all of these). Also try and find a retailer in your area that sells Filofax so you can touch and feel the binders and paper. Usually a good pen or stationary outlet carries them. I hope this helps.
