Free For All Tuesday No. 160

Tuesdays are your chance to ask any Filofax related questions you might have.

Even if it's not Tuesday you can still post your questions here, just pick the most recent FFAT or FFAF.

So fire away and we will collectively try to answer your questions or offer opinions.

  1. If you only have one Filofax/planner for work and home how do switch off from work when you get home?

    1. I run my own accountancy practice, my office is at home. When I'm finished work I close the office door and that's it, I'm done. I run one Filofax for business and personal, and I find that switching off is a learned behaviour not dependent upon location or organisation so much as mental attitude.

  2. Hi! Which filofax or any brand planner is entirely full grain and just durable strong leather? I know the Malden is full grain and its nice, but anything else? I've seen gillio leather and is it just me or is the leather too thin to seem full grain? Ooh, also, can we replace fliofax rings ourselves? I saw that van der spek has made a video showing how to replace rings- in theory if I ripped out filofax rings couldn't I screw in some more? Thanks.

    1. The rings on most modern Filofaxes can't be replaced. If you 'rip them out', you'll ruin the organiser.

  3. After delving into DIY Planners for the past 2 years because I couldn't find the brand I used to use, my obsession for ring-bound planners, which started in 5th grade has been rekindled. I've been reading philofaxy from the beginning and am currently on entries from May 2013.
    Anyway, to my question:
I placed an order with Montgomery Pens (an online retailer I found through a Google search) on 2/13 and called them a week later because I hadn't received an e-mail verifying that my order has been processed. I was told to wait a week. I still haven't heard back from them.
So, I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with them here because I'm not sure how I should proceed. Since they were the only people I could find that had a personal size Checkbook Holder insert available.
